About this hunt

The Coventry Historical Society's Wooded Relic Harvest — an outdoor metal-detecting fundraiser on Saturday, October 24, 2026, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM (rain date Sunday, October 25) on stone-wall farm fields and forested land near Coventry, Connecticut. Run with New England Relic Recovery, it combines a seeded token hunt and natural relic hunting for 18th- and 19th-century relics from the farm and woods; family-friendly, with cool prizes and gift-basket drawings, and lunch included. ATTENDANCE IS CAPPED AT 60 DETECTORISTS. Schedule: registration 8:00–9:00 AM; token & natural hunt in the 19th-century fields 9:00 AM–12:00 PM; lunch and gift-basket drawings 12:00–1:00 PM; continued hunt with escorted forest teams 1:00–4:00 PM. A liability waiver is signed on arrival. Proceeds fund the society's digitization of 1,800 glass-plate negatives (c. 1897–1925) by Coventry photographer Charles G. Coombs. Register online (one form can register multiple participants); volunteers can contact NewEnglandRelicRecovery@outlook.com.
