About this hunt
Annual open beach hunt at East Beach (Apffel Park), 1923 Boddeker Dr, Galveston — Saturday, February 27, 2027, hosted by the Houston Metal Detecting Club (formerly HARC). One of the Gulf Coast's longest-running club hunts, now in its 45th year. It combines seeded field components with natural beach hunting across four hunts — silver dimes, Buster's wild hunt, 40% silver halves, and the main hunt (silver dimes & quarters) — plus a FREE kids hunt for ages 12 and under. All four hunts are $250, or buy à la carte: silver dimes $40, Buster's wild hunt $10, 40% silver halves $85, main hunt $135. Capped at 125 entries; mail-in registration only, postmarked by February 10 — no hunt-day registration. The first 40 entries go in a drawing for a silver dollar. Rain or shine; 100% of entry fees are returned to the hunts; fundraiser prizes include gold coins plus donated silver dollars and silver rounds/bars.
