18th annual four-day metal detecting weekend at the historic Blackthorne Resort in the Catskills (348 Sunside Rd, East Durham NY 12413). The property dates to the mid-1700s — War of 1812 troop movements left cannonballs and an artillery button onsite, and gangster Legs Diamond visited in the Prohibition era; known historically as Brightside Ranch, then Mrs. Peters' House, then the Mountain Spring Hotel. Optional Friday Natural Hunt buses detectorists to historic Catskills properties with special access — past finds include Spanish silver, George Washington inaugural buttons, and Colonial coppers — with catered lunch and a top-find prize. Four seeded hunts over the weekend on a two-acre event field, digging for numbered tokens redeemable for gold and silver coins, Morgan dollars, Indian head pennies, silver certificates, jewelry, and proof sets. Vendor area with detecting gear at reduced prices; two on-site bars with live music each night.
